Come Explore the Blue John Canyon in Moab
Blue John Canyon (originally Bluejohn Canyon) is one of the most famous slot canyons in the world. Hidden deep within Utah’s remote Robbers Roost region, it offers an unforgettable journey through twisting sandstone corridors and dramatic desert scenery.
Over thousands of years, flash floods carved this canyon into a maze of sculpted walls, narrow slots, and winding passages. As the canyon tightens, towering sandstone walls rise above you while the route reveals rappels, downclimbs, and some of the deepest, beautifully sculpted narrows in the area.
Blue John Canyon gained worldwide recognition after the survival story of climber Aron Ralston, later portrayed in the film 127 Hours.
Rather than following the traditional route that involves long desert hikes or vehicle shuttles, our trip uses a unique loop through the canyon system. By descending one fork and exiting another, we’re able to spend much more of the day inside the canyon itself—maximizing time exploring the incredible narrows that make Blue John so legendary.
