Discover the Beauty of Ox Canyon in Moab
Ox Canyon is another hidden gem guided exclusively by Moab Canyon Tours, offering a beautiful and unique canyoneering experience about 30 minutes outside of Moab. With scenic overlooks, quiet slot sections, and fun rappels, this canyon provides a fantastic adventure away from the crowds found in more well-known routes.
The journey begins with a short scenic hike across high desert terrain that gradually leads to a panoramic overlook of the Moab Valley. From this vantage point you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding desert landscape before beginning the descent into the canyon itself.
The adventure starts with an impressive 120-foot rappel that drops you into the canyon’s sculpted sandstone walls. From there, the canyon begins to narrow into elegant corridors that twist and turn through the desert rock. Three additional rappels — each roughly 30–40 feet — along with a few fun downclimbs guide the route deeper into the canyon while revealing hidden chambers and beautifully carved sandstone formations.
Ox Canyon is a great choice for families and adventurous beginners who want a scenic canyon experience with a sense of discovery. It’s also a great option for guests who don’t mind a slightly longer drive in exchange for a quieter canyon and a full 3/4-day adventure.
